Crossbearer's Log:
Started at 8:05 A.M. in nice, cool, shady weather and climbed to 8,000 feet before descending down to 7,000 feet on the Silver Lake Dam. From the dam, I proceeded to climb back up to 8,000 feet again over the next three miles. I completed the day's walk at 11:40 A.M. [Editor's Note: Due to lack of communication], waited fifty minutes for Laura to pick me up.
Tomorrow, my walk will start in an avalanche area (NO STOPPING, NO STANDING, NO PEDS). I'm pretty sure the signs are all talking about me.
Later in the walk, a white truck stopped at a turnout and rolled down his passenger window. We talked for a bit and he asked if he could pray for me. I'm saving that prayer for tomorrow because I know I'm going to need it.
Total daily mileage is 10.1 -- getting closer to California/Nevada border and Carson City.
